TACZOL ointment is a form of tacrolimus that is used on the skin to treat a skin disease called eczema (atopic dermatitis) in patients who do not have (or should not) responded well with other eczema medicines. Eczema is an allergic-type stage that causes irritated, red, and itchy skin. This drug works by destabilizing the defence (immune) structure of the skin, thereby reducing the allergic reaction and eczema relief. Tacrolimus is part of a class of drugs known as topical inhibitors of calcineurin.
